The research group SIAT Video Team (SVT) headed by Prof. Yun Zhang , which belongs to High Performance Computing Center (HPCC) of Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIAT, CAS). The research group has long been engaged in the research on H.264/AVC, HEVC and 3D video coding related theory and algorithms. SVT has considerable research foundation and system platform in the field of efficient perceptual video coding. The group develops a series of (multi-view) video coding algorithms with high compression ratio and low complexity as well as image / video quality assessment model, achieving excellent research results and innovations, their mission is to solve the key problems of multimedia big data, which include multimedia processing, compression, storage and transmission.
SIAT, CAS was jointly established by CAS, the Shenzhen municipal government and the Chinese University of Hong Kong in February 2006. SIAT has become an ideal development platform for overseas high-level talents to return. HPCC develops advanced high performance computing and data analytics techniques to speed up or improve the performance for domain-specific applications. HPCC brings together a group of outstanding talents at home and abroad, undertakes a number of major projects (national, provincial and municipal level) and strives for a total of more than 100 million yuan in funding in the past five years.

Ⅰ. Job Description
1. Multimedia communications: multimedia data processing, communication and network technologies, including but not limited to multimedia data compression, audio/video content analysis, summary generation and management, video rendering and enhancement (client-side), etc.
2. Video codec: including but not limited to perceptual coding, Quality of Experience (QoE) and perceptual Image Quality Assessment (IQA), efficient video coding technology, etc.
3. Virtual Reality (VR): including but not limited to fields related to VR technology and application.
4. Other independent research directions that a postdoctoral researcher is good at, including but not limited to the existing research of SVT.
Ⅱ. Your Profile (long-term validity, multiple job openings):
1. The successful candidates should have received the Ph.D. degree and have published more than 2 papers in related research area with JCR (Q2)/ CAS ranking Q2, first author, or have published one paper in related research area with JCR (Q1)/ CAS ranking Q1.
2. Major in computer science, multimedia technology, video signal processing, computer vision, machine learning or similar; ability to work and apply for funds independently.
3. Have enthusiasm for research and a strong sense of responsibility.

Ⅲ. What we are offering:
1. A challenging position in a socially involved organization. The salary will be generous for academic personnel, 5 insurances & housing fund, housing and meal subsidies and so on. Postdoctoral salary is at least 210,000 RMB a year. It mainly includes the realization of SVT’s task (system or algorithm and so on), scientific research paper writing. The specific research content is including but not limited to the following areas:
Engineering Requirements:
1. Development of Video Codec System;
2. Development of AR/VR System.
Research and Development Requirements:
1. Research on Video Codec algorithm.
2. Video/Image understanding and analysis.
3. Research on Machine Learning and Deep Learning algorithm.
4. Research and Development of Video Quality Assessment algorithm.
Ⅱ. Your Profile:
Overall: Students majoring in computer science, software engineering, electronic engineering, bioengineering or related majors are preparing or studying for a master's / doctoral degree. Research interests: video signal processing, multimedia technology, computer graphics, computer vision, medical image processing, virtual reality or human-computer interaction technology. The applicant whose major is not the above-mentioned ones, but have a strong interest in the above direction, are also welcomed to apply, admissions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
Specific: (long-term validity, multiple job openings)
1. Master’s and doctoral students in related majors.
2. Visiting students: making the agreement with your supervisor that you can do the related research in SVT for more than one year after completing your required subjects. You can go back to school for thesis defense if needed.
3. Good scientific research foundation and learning ability.
4. Meet at least one of the following conditions:
(1) Fluent command of one program language (for example, Python, MATLAB).
(2) Familiar with a certain data analysis software.
(3) Interested in video signal processing and multimedia technology;
(4) Interested in AR/VR system implementation, relevant system development experience is preferred. Interested in machine learning, computer vision, relevant system development experience is preferred.
